If you really want to change the look of your interior decorating plan, you can do this very easily just by changing the curtains. If you want something truly different and out of the ordinary, then you might take into consideration the idea of having some custom window coverings made. You can have these designed just specifically for your exact taste and style. Some ideas you might think about would be to match the patterns on your furniture, or just pick out some of your favorite colors and have the windows decked out with those.

Shades - Curtains aren't the only limit to custom window coverings, as you can also have blinds and shades made if they are more fitting for your interior design. These days you have a huge variety of different shades you can choose from. Shades can really give you a lot of privacy, and they are handy in the fact that you can raise or lower them to let in as much light you need. A really popular choice for a lot of people when it comes to custom-made shades are Roman shades; this is because they are very inexpensive and they can add a nice and classic look to your room. Some of the styles that you can choose from include honeycomb, cellular, cordless, sheer, pleated, and roller shades all of which can add a personal touch to your home.

Blinds - Another popular choice are blinds. Although these aren't usually considered to be as nice and aesthetically beautiful as shades are, you can find that with the variety of different materials available for them, you can pretty much get any look that you want. In most instances they are very reasonably priced and you can get them to fit into even those stranger shaped windows fairly easily. As far as materials go for blinds, wood is still the most popular but other materials like metal and vinyl can be effective as well. You can get blinds in styles that are both vertically made and horizontally made depending on what you need.

Drapes - Of course people are still using traditional drapes. You can use these effectively with blinds or shades to get just the look you want. Most of the time when an idea for custom-made curtains starts out, they have a particular pattern or color design requested, but often times they develop into something that is made to fit the theme of the room, whether it is a country style or a Mediterranean-style. If you are taking the measurements to the person making the window coverings, you need to make sure that you are extremely accurate with these. If you don't feel comfortable with this, it is advisable to have them come out and take the measurements for you. Making sure of this will help you to avoid the frustration of spending money on custom-made curtains only to find out that they don't fit when you get them home. Before you make your order with any manufacturer of custom made coverings, make sure that they offer customer satisfaction and a reasonable guarantee for their product. So is your wallet going to get soaked when going for custom-made window coverings? That all depends on what type of fabric or material you want, and the size of your windows.
