Our experience gives us insight into the complex array of woods, stains, and finishes and how they react to each other to give you the most durable and best looking finish. Please don't fall for that "if you refinish it, it will lose it's value" line! This is only true if the piece has some historical value to it (such as if George Washington carved his name in it).
The process begins by removing the old finish back to the bare wood. the piece is thoroughly sanded, joints are reglued and defects in the wood are removed if required. The stain is then hand rubbed into the wood. Then 4 -6 clear top coats are applied with each coat hand sanded using a finer grit each time. You would think the process ends here, but not with us. After the finish has cured for several days the piece is then rubbed out a final time for a true hand rubbed finish!
